Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the SSL Check Indicator extension and API handles your data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

We operate on a principle of data minimization and do not collect personal information unless absolutely necessary for the functionality of the service.

  • No Personal Data: We do not collect names, email addresses, or other personally identifiable information.
  • No Tracking: We do not track your browsing history or usage patterns across other websites.
  • Log Data: Our API server may temporarily log IP addresses and request details for security, rate limiting, and debugging purposes. These logs are regularly rotated and are not used for tracking users.

Any data processed by the extension or API is used solely for the purpose of providing the service:

  1. Certificate Analysis: The extension sends the hostname of the website you visit to our API to fetch SSL/TLS certificate details.
  2. Service Improvements: Aggregated, anonymous usage metrics may be used to identify performance issues and improve the service.

We respect your privacy and do not sell or share your data with third parties.

  • We Do Not Sell Data: We do not sell, trade, or rent your data to advertisers or other third parties.
  • Third-Party Services: The extension may interact with third-party APIs (e.g., certificate transparency logs) directly to validate certificates, but no user-identifiable data is shared in this process.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

We take reasonable measures to protect the information processed by our service from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. All communication between the extension and our API is encrypted via HTTPS.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please open an issue in our GitHub repository.
